Six additional Baloch men have reportedly been forcibly disappeared by Pakistani armed forces in the region of Balochistan’s Panjgur district and in Karachi, according to families and local sources. These incidents are part of a broader pattern of enforced disappearances that human rights organizations say have surged in recent months across the area.
Sources from Tehsil Parom in Panjgur district have identified five men who were detained by military personnel. The men, named as Abdul Ghaffar (son of Malang), Hamid (son of Dad Mohammad), Majeed (son of Rasheed), and two others from the Marri tribe, were taken into custody and subsequently vanished. Local residents reported that these men had been residing in Parom for labor purposes when they were detained.
The residents added that the men were engaged in work-related activities at the time of their detention. They also noted that after being detained, the men were transferred to an undisclosed location, with no information provided to their families or communities about their whereabouts or the reasons for their detention.
In another separate case, a rickshaw driver named Shahzaib Samad was reportedly taken into custody from the Lyari Sargwath area of Karachi. According to reports, personnel believed to be from Pakistani intelligence agencies detained him. Like the others, he was transferred to an undisclosed location, with no official information provided to his family.
Shahzaib’s family has expressed their distress, stating that they have not been informed of any charges against him or given any details about where he is being held. They have appealed to authorities for his safe recovery, emphasizing their lack of information and concern for his wellbeing.
Human rights groups and local activists have highlighted a sharp increase in enforced disappearances across Balochistan this year. They report that new cases are emerging almost daily from multiple districts, pointing to a troubling pattern of detentions without charges, lack of transparency, and ongoing impunity for state institutions. These practices are fueling widespread public alienation and resentment throughout the region.
