BLA Attacks 23 Targets in Balochistan Over Ten Days, Killing 16 Pakistani Forces and Losing 4 Fighters

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), an armed pro-independence group, has claimed responsibility for conducting 23 operations across various areas of Balochistan over a ten-day period. The group reported that during these clashes, 16 members of Pakistani security forces were killed, with several others injured. Conversely, the BLA acknowledged that four of its fighters lost their lives during the confrontations. The series of attacks reflects ongoing tensions and the BLA’s persistent campaign against what it describes as oppressive state forces and projects.

In a statement issued to the media, BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch detailed the operations carried out from June 21 to June 30. He stated that the attacks targeted security forces, infrastructure, and vehicles linked to what the group calls “exploitative projects.” The BLA also emphasized that it continued its campaign of an “economic blockade” by targeting transport routes and commercial vehicles involved in these projects, aiming to weaken the state’s economic and infrastructural hold in the region.

On June 21, BLA fighters established checkpoints on a main highway in Surab, stopping vehicles for several hours. The group claimed that clashes ensued in the Nasao area of Kohlu after Pakistani forces, along with alleged “death squads,” attempted to advance into the region. The BLA described these confrontations as part of its resistance against the Pakistani military’s efforts to control the area.

The group further reported that on June 23, its fighters took control of three locations in Kharan—Sarawan, Nouroz Kalat, and Zarozai—for two days. During this period, the BLA claimed to have destroyed two bridges and killed seven Pakistani personnel in separate attacks and sniper operations. It also reported attacking Pakistani forces near Basima and targeting a military checkpoint in Khairabad, Turbat, where surveillance equipment was allegedly destroyed.

The BLA’s statement highlighted its activities on June 25, when it claimed to have imposed road blockades in Mastung and Nushki, seizing seven freight vehicles and setting fire to ten others. The group stated that these vehicles were linked to projects it opposes, aiming to disrupt the economic activities supporting the state’s development initiatives. These actions are part of the group’s broader strategy to oppose resource extraction and infrastructure projects in the region.

Heavy clashes were reported on June 26 in the Balbal area of Zehri, Khuzdar, during which the BLA claimed to have killed six security personnel and injured several others. The organization also announced that two of its fighters, Dr Aziz and Mama Marjan, were killed during these confrontations. Additionally, the BLA reported attacks on an Anti-Terrorist Force (ATF) vehicle in Karkh, Khuzdar, and ongoing operations in Kharan and Basima, further demonstrating its active resistance across multiple fronts.

On June 27, a remote-controlled improvised explosive device targeted a police vehicle in Mian Ghundi, Quetta, injuring four police personnel. The BLA claimed responsibility for this attack and also reported disabling three freight trailers in Dalbandin. These attacks form part of the group’s ongoing efforts to destabilize security operations and hinder government-controlled logistics and transportation routes.

The clashes continued on June 28, with reports of fighting in the Kambela area of Mastung. The BLA claimed that during these clashes, two security personnel and two of its own fighters, Jahanzeb and Kohzad, were killed. The group also reported an IED attack against a military patrol in Kech and destruction of machinery and vehicles at a construction camp near Kharan, indicating sustained militant activity in the region.

In the final days of the period, the BLA claimed that on June 30, it set fire to five vehicles in Nushki and Mastung and seized a vehicle transporting supplies to a company operating at the Zarghoon gas field near Quetta. The group stated that the driver remained in its custody, asserting its continued capability to carry out targeted operations. The BLA declared its resolve to continue these armed campaigns until Balochistan achieves independence, opposing state-backed development and resource extraction projects. Pakistani authorities had not issued any public response to the BLA’s recent claims at the time of this report.
