On June 4, 2023 a large number of people in Awaran protested on different roads and raised slogans against the non-arrest of Noor Bakhsh who is involved in the suicide case of Najma Baloch and later outside the police station.
During the rally, slogans were raised against the administration and the police and the peaceful protesters demanded that Noorbakhsh, the main accused in the Najma case should be arrested soon and brought to justice. Noorbakhsh is a government official at Balochistan Levies and shares close ties with Pakistan army.
He said that Najma Baloch has been tortured and forced to commit suicide and the main accused of this heinous crime is still roaming free.
According to Najma’s father Dulsard Baloch, his daughter was worried about the future of the village children as there was not a single school in the entire area. He built a hut in front of the house with his savings and started teaching the children himself. In the last three years, the number of children in the hut-like school had reached three hundred, but today all these children were once again deprived of education.
The daughter of Dulsard Baloch, a resident of Gishkur area of Awaran district, committed suicide by putting a noose around her neck on May 15 this year. Dulsard Baloch says that his daughter was forced to take her own life. This is not suicide but murder. She was being harassed by Levies officials and two of Noorbakhsh’s colleagues. My daughter died to save her honor and that of her family.
