Reports indicate that the Pakistani military, allegedly supported by gunship helicopters, has initiated a significant military operation in the Bolan and Quetta regions of Balochistan on Thursday.
According to these reports, the Pakistan Army is conducting extensive military operations in various areas of Bolan, including Zarghoon and Margat on the outskirts of Quetta. It has been noted that combat helicopters are participating in the operation, as they have been observed conducting airstrikes in different areas, while ground forces have cordoned off various locations.
As of now, there is no clear information available regarding casualties or incidents of forced disappearances resulting from the ongoing siege in the area.
It’s worth mentioning that on the evening of Wednesday, a group of armed individuals blocked a highway in the Margat area of Bolan. During vehicle inspections, these gunmen reportedly captured an officer from the Pakistan Army and one of his colleagues, taking them away. However, Pakistani authorities have neither confirmed nor denied the incident or the military operation in progress.
The “pro-independence” Baloch armed group, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), has been active in the region. Just three days prior, a project manager of the Pakistan Mineral and Development Corporation (PMDC) was targeted in a bomb attack near Margat, resulting in his immediate death and serious injuries to his driver.
The Baloch Liberation Army has claimed responsibility for the attack on the PMDC manager.
