The Baloch Women Forum (BWF) has strongly condemned the recent targeting of a family in the Malaar area of Awaran by security forces, describing the incident as “heartbreaking” and calling for strict accountability for those involved.
The forum emphasized that law enforcement agencies must respect basic human rights and avoid violations against the Baloch people. It demanded that those responsible for the Awaran incident be held accountable and face appropriate consequences.
In its statement, the BWF highlighted that Balochistan has endured two decades of human rights abuses, including enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, indiscriminate firing on civilians, and violations of political, social, economic, and cultural rights—often without any accountability. It expressed concern over the active involvement of security forces in such violations, noting that perpetrators are rarely held responsible, allowing such practices to persist.
Referring to a recent tragic event, the forum reported that on the night of April 1–2, security personnel opened fire on a family in Cheeri Malaar, Awaran, killing three members—husband Mohammad Umar, his wife Faiza Baloch, and their daughter Mahzaib—and injuring three others, including a woman named Fehmeeda.
The BWF pointed out that incidents like these have become routine, with Baloch civilians often treated as second-class citizens. Despite eyewitness accounts, such cases frequently go unaddressed, and the judiciary remains silent despite the clear visibility of these incidents to authorities and the public.
Reiterating its stance, the Baloch Women Forum condemned any act that breaches the law, especially when innocent civilians are harmed. It criticized the role of law enforcement agencies, stating that they are, in many cases, directly involved in violating the rights of indigenous people.
The forum called for an impartial investigation into the Cheeri Malaar incident and demanded that those responsible be given exemplary punishment.
