The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has expressed deep concerns regarding the activities attributed to “death squads” in the region of Balochistan. They have raised alarms about a noticeable increase in these squads’ actions during the current caretaker government’s tenure, hinting that they may be operating as an unofficial extension or a “B-Team” of the state.
In a comprehensive statement, the central spokesperson of the BYC shed light on the seriousness of the situation. They indicated that the apparent endorsement of these “death squads” under the current caretaker government has effectively turned Balochistan into a “security zone.”
At the core of their apprehensions is the assertion that the caretaker government, seen as representing security agencies, has strengthened the presence of such groups. While particular attention is drawn to Wadh as a significant hotspot for these activities, with evident state involvement, the BYC contends that these squads are active throughout the entirety of Balochistan.
The BYC spokesperson delved into the historical activities of these squads, suggesting their existence for over a decade and accusing them of various human rights violations.
Furthermore, the BYC criticized political parties, implying a trend where they only seem to voice their concerns for Balochistan when faced with political challenges or when they are not in power.
In their closing remarks, the spokesperson emphasized to the Baloch population the broader objectives that they attribute to the state and these “death squads.” Their primary concern is the potential displacement of the Baloch people from their ancestral homeland. The BYC stressed the importance of remaining steadfast against such efforts and encouraged the adoption of a path of political resistance to safeguard the Baloch identity and heritage.
