The Baloch National Movement (BNM) organized a protest demonstration in Bonn, Germany, to raise awareness and condemn the ongoing human rights abuses and enforced disappearances in Balochistan. The protesters emphasized the severity of the situation, calling on the international community to break its silence and take immediate action. They highlighted the urgent need for transparent investigations into the rights violations occurring in Balochistan, which they described as part of a broader genocide against the Baloch people.
During the demonstration, BNM representatives criticized the global community for its apparent apathy towards the crisis in Balochistan. They condemned the support and complicity of powerful states that continue to back Pakistan’s policies in the region. The protesters argued that despite Balochistan’s rich natural resources and strategic significance along vital trade routes, it remains under colonial oppression, with the Baloch people systematically deprived of their political, social, and economic rights.
The speakers accused international powers of supporting Pakistan’s “colonial regime” to further their own expansionist interests. They pointed out that this backing enables Pakistan to exploit Balochistan’s vast resources and maintain control over the region through repression and military force. The protesters emphasized that this political and economic exploitation is a form of colonialism that continues to oppress the Baloch population.
Highlighting the deteriorating human rights situation, the protesters described enforced disappearances as widespread and brutal. Many victims have been found dead, their mutilated bodies dumped in remote areas, often after being subjected to aerial and ground assaults. The protesters criticized international organizations such as the United Nations and the European Union for their silence, which they saw as a contradiction to global human rights principles and a failure to protect the victims.
The demonstration also shed light on the plight of the families of the disappeared, who live under constant fear and psychological distress. One participant remarked that families are unable to voice their concerns without facing harassment, threats, or intimidation from authorities. The repression extends beyond individuals, tearing apart entire communities and leaving a trail of suffering and despair among the Baloch population.
The event was addressed by several political activists, including Jabbar Baloch, the General Secretary of BNM Germany, along with other prominent figures such as Habib Baloch, Luqman Baloch, and Wajahat Baloch. The protesters collectively called on international human rights organizations, the United Nations, and global civil society to pay urgent attention to the ongoing atrocities in Balochistan. They demanded that the international community hold Pakistan accountable under international law for its role in the repression and human rights violations in the region.
