The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for an armed operation in the Karkh area of Khuzdar district. The group asserted that its fighters temporarily took control of the town and targeted several government installations during the incident. This claim was made in a statement issued to the media, detailing the events that unfolded on 4 March 2026.
According to the BLF spokesperson, Major Gwahram Baloch, the operation involved a coordinated assault by the group’s fighters. The militants reportedly surrounded Karkh from multiple directions, establishing blockades on the town’s entry and exit routes to prevent any movement in or out of the area. The operation was described as a strategic effort to assert control and target key infrastructure.
The statement alleged that the BLF fighters first attacked a police checkpoint at Moola Cross, situated along the Khuzdar–Ratto Dero section of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route. The group claimed that they seized weapons and equipment from the checkpoint before setting the facility on fire, aiming to disrupt security operations in the region.
Further details from the statement indicated that the fighters moved into the center of Karkh, where they took control of several government buildings. These included a police station, a National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) office, a bank, and the office of the Deputy Commissioner. The BLF claimed that during the occupation, they destroyed records and symbols of the state within these offices, and seized weapons from the premises.
The group also reported conducting checks at various roadblocks in the area and detaining several individuals, including a police sub-inspector named Anwar Ali, a resident of Brahmanabad in Sindh. The BLF claimed that the detainees were later released after questioning, and that an injured police officer from the security forces was taken to a hospital for treatment.
In addition to the ground operations, the BLF claimed that Pakistani security forces attempted to advance towards Karkh and responded with mortar shellings from a distance. The statement stated that clashes took place near Moola Cross, resulting in the deaths of three soldiers and injuries to several others, highlighting the intensity of the confrontation.
The group announced that its fighters withdrew from Karkh later in the evening after completing their operations. Despite the claims, there has been no immediate confirmation or official comment from Pakistani authorities regarding the incident or the claims made by the BLF. The situation remains uncertain, with authorities yet to verify the details of the reported attack.
