The Baloch National Movement (BNM) has launched an extensive international campaign scheduled to last for a month. The campaign aims to shed light on critical issues faced by the Baloch people, including the struggle for national freedom, collective punishment, enforced disappearances, and the illegal detention of political and human rights activists in Balochistan.
According to a statement issued by the organization, the campaign will commence on 10 March and continue until 9 April. Throughout this period, BNM plans to organize a series of activities at the international level to garner global attention and support. These activities are designed to raise awareness about the ongoing human rights violations in Balochistan.
The campaign will feature two international conferences, protest demonstrations, a public rally, and advocacy efforts during the sessions of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva. These events aim to engage international policymakers, human rights organizations, and the global community in addressing the urgent issues in Balochistan.
BNM emphasized that the primary goal of these activities is to draw international attention to the deteriorating human rights situation in Balochistan. The organization seeks to highlight the plight of political prisoners, the families suffering from collective punishment, and the ongoing illegal detentions without fair legal procedures.
The statement pointed out that political workers, students, and civil society activists in Balochistan continue to face arbitrary arrests and prolonged detention. These violations are, according to BNM, directly linked to Pakistan’s policies in the region, which the movement describes as repressive and unjust.
The organization maintained that the root of the ongoing tensions and human rights concerns lies in a long-standing political dispute over Balochistan’s status. It argued that a sustainable and just resolution can only be achieved through recognition of the Baloch people’s right to self-determination and freedom.
During the campaign, BNM will also collaborate with Baloch diaspora communities and international human rights advocates. The aim is to raise the issue at global forums and to seek greater international intervention and support for addressing the human rights abuses in Balochistan.
The BNM called Baloch activists and diaspora members to actively participate in the campaign. Supporters are encouraged to join planned activities, contribute via social media and online platforms, and help raise awareness about the ongoing crisis. Further details about the specific conferences, protests, and advocacy efforts will be announced in the coming days.
