Three young Baloch men, including an engineering student in Punjab, have recently been forcibly disappeared from different regions, raising serious concerns about human rights violations in Balochistan. According to reports, these incidents involve individuals taken by Pakistani authorities from Lahore and Quetta, with families and local sources confirming their abductions.
Shozeb Saleem, a resident of Model Town, Dera Ghazi Khan, and a seventh-semester BS Civil Engineering student at FAST University Lahore, was reportedly abducted on 23 October while traveling to his university. Family sources allege that personnel from Pakistani intelligence agencies were responsible for his disappearance and claim to have evidence supporting this allegation.
In Quetta, two young men from the Jatoi family were reportedly taken into custody during separate nighttime raids by Pakistani forces. Najeebullah, son of Duran Jatoi, was disappeared on 22 October, while Nadeem, son of Azad Khan Jatoi, was abducted on 29 October from the Eastern Bypass Link Road area. Family members stated that both men were detained during house searches and are currently held at undisclosed locations.
Meanwhile, the ongoing violence and repression in Balochistan have also resulted in the recovery of bodies presumed to be victims of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings. On Thursday, police found two bodies in different districts of the province, both showing signs of violence. One body, discovered in Khuzdar’s Baghbana area, was identified as Muhammad Ismail, a tribal member of the Shahwani family, who had been shot.
Another body was recovered from the Shapatan area in Panjgur and was transported to the Teaching Hospital for identification. These deaths add to the mounting evidence of a pattern of state-backed violence against Baloch civilians, raising alarms over human rights abuses across the region.
The situation is further compounded by the recovery of the body of Ayaz Baloch, a schoolteacher who had been forcibly disappeared on 12 November 2025. His body was found in Buleda earlier this week, with family members stating that Pakistani forces and allied armed groups had taken him while he was returning home from school. His mutilated and decomposed body was identified only through his clothes and shoes.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) issued a statement condemning these ongoing atrocities, describing Ayaz Baloch’s killing as part of a broader pattern of repression and human rights violations in Balochistan. The organization highlighted enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, torture, and violence targeting civilians, including teachers, students, activists, children, and women and called on international human rights bodies to intervene immediately.
