Former Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Khan Raisani has emphasized that the root issue in Balochistan is political and cannot be resolved through military means. He specifically rejected the use of force, including attacks on religious institutions or attempts to change administrative boundaries, as solutions to the longstanding grievances of the Baloch people.
In a post shared on the social media platform X, Raisani expressed his belief that violence and destructive actions would not address the core issues faced by the Baloch nation. He stated that cutting down orchard trees, bombing mosques and religious seminaries, or altering divisions and districts would only deepen the crisis, not resolve it.
Raisani called for a serious, meaningful, and dignified political dialogue as the only way to find a lasting solution to the conflict. He argued that genuine negotiations and addressing political grievances were essential for peace and stability in Balochistan.
His remarks come amidst reports of a military operation by Pakistani forces in Mastung district, which is part of Raisani’s political constituency. Local sources indicated that the operation involved gunship helicopters and shelling, particularly in the Khadkocha area.
There are allegations that the shelling caused significant damage to a mosque and a residential seminary for students, with reports also suggesting civilian casualties. However, Pakistani authorities have not publicly responded to Raisani’s statements or confirmed details regarding the reported damage and casualties.
