Kech: Disappeared individual’s body discovered, allegedly abducted and killed by Pakistani security forces

The brutal murder of Wahid, a young man from Nasirabad in Kech district of Balochistan, has shocked the local community. His body was found severely tortured, with signs of severe abuse including cigarette burns and a disfigured face, one eye gouged out. Wahid’s family claims he was forcibly disappeared by Pakistani security forces and was subjected to brutal torture before his death. The discovery of his body has highlighted ongoing concerns about human rights abuses in the region.

Wahid was working abroad as a laborer in the United Arab Emirates and had recently returned home to spend his vacation. On June 2nd, he was reportedly abducted from the premises of Civil Hospital Turbat. Two days later, his body was found in a remote area, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and subsequent death. His case is seen as part of a broader pattern of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings affecting many in Balochistan.

Local and international human rights organizations, along with nationalist groups, have condemned these incidents, asserting that such cases are disturbingly common in Balochistan. They report that dozens of young men are forcibly disappeared by security agencies, often held in secret detention centers for extended periods. Many of these individuals are later found dead, dumped in isolated areas after suffering severe torture.

In recent weeks, there has been a noticeable rise in the recovery of bodies of missing persons across Balochistan, including districts like Awaran, Kalat, Mastung, and others.
