On September 14, an unidentified group launched a massive assault on a significant Pakistani military camp situated in the suburban vicinity of Wali Thangi, Quetta.
The attackers reportedly infiltrated and gained control over multiple posts within the camp, successfully absconding with military equipment and weaponry, leaving no trace of their retreat direction.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of Pakistan has officially confirmed the incident, revealing the grim toll it took. Among the casualties, one military personnel lost their life, and several others sustained injuries or lost their lives. Furthermore, the ISPR disclosed that three of the assailants met their demise during the intense confrontation.
In response to last night’s attack, military helicopters were spotted in the Wali Thangi area earlier today. Nonetheless, specific details regarding the nature and outcomes of these operations have been shrouded in secrecy.
It’s worth noting that this region has a history marred by significant security incidents. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a Baloch separatist group advocating for independence, has frequently orchestrated assaults in the Wali Thangi region. Their targets often include Pakistani military personnel and security installations.
Notably, an attack by the BLA’s Special Tactical Operations Squad (STOS) on April 20, 2022, resulted in the death of Subedar Major Fazal Gull and inflicted several other casualties.
