As the Muslim community worldwide celebrated Eid-ul-Adha, the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) and families of victims of enforced disappearances in Balochistan took to the streets to demand justice and the safe return of their loved ones.
In Quetta, the VBMP organized a protest in front of the Quetta Press Club at 4 PM, calling for an end to enforced disappearances and the killing of missing individuals. Chairman Nasrullah Baloch urged political parties, student organizations, and residents of Quetta to join the protest.
Meanwhile, families of missing persons from Kech district held a sit-in protest at Shaheed Fida Chowk in Turbat. A large number of women and children joined the protest, demanding the recovery of their family members who were allegedly forcibly disappeared by Pakistani military forces.
The families had previously held a sit-in at the Deputy Commissioner’s office earlier this month, but despite assurances from the administration, their loved ones have yet to be recovered. The families have been protesting on Eid days every year to mark their struggle for justice.
“We have lost the joy of Eid and every other festival because our loved ones are missing,” said a victim’s family member. “We will continue to protest until we get justice and our family members are returned to us.”
The protests highlight the ongoing human rights crisis in Balochistan, where thousands of people have been subjected to enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings and torture. The international community has called for Pakistan to investigate these abuses and hold perpetrators accountable.
