The situation in Balochistan has become increasingly volatile, with armed groups such as the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) intensifying their operations against Pakistani security forces and local collaborators. These groups have recently claimed responsibility for a series of attacks, alleging that their actions are part of a broader struggle for Balochistan’s independence.
In several detailed operations, the BLA reported ambushes on military personnel, particularly in areas like Mastung and Kohlu. In Mastung’s Splinji area, BLA fighters launched an attack that resulted in injuries to Pakistani soldiers attempting to retreat. Another operation in Kohlu involved targeting a camp run by a pro-government local group, leading to the abandonment of weapons and injuries among the camp’s members. The spokesperson for the BLA, Jeeyand Baloch, emphasized repercussions for those collaborating with Pakistani forces.
The BLA also highlighted a targeted killing of a pro-military figure named Jameel in the Tump region, accusing him of orchestrating attacks against local youth. Furthermore, the group destroyed trucks involved in resource extraction in Nushki, reiterating their commitment to halting the exploitation of Balochistan’s natural resources.
Similarly, the BLF claimed responsibility for a sniper attack that killed a Pakistani soldier in the Kech district, coupled with an assault on a military outpost. Their spokesperson, Major Gwahram Baloch, stated that these actions are in protest against the Pakistani military presence and are part of the ongoing fight for Balochistan’s liberation.
The continuous confrontations signal a growing assertiveness of these Baloch armed organizations opposing Pakistani control, aiming to disrupt military and economic operations in the region. Meanwhile, the Pakistani government has condemned these violent acts as terrorism and has vowed to enhance its counterinsurgency efforts to restore stability in Balochistan. This cycle of conflict reflects the deep-rooted tensions over issues of autonomy, sovereignty, and resource control in the resource-rich region.
