The Baloch National Movement (BNM) held a photo exhibition outside the United Nations office in Geneva, focusing on alleged enforced disappearances, collective punishment and the human rights situation in Balochistan.
The organisation said the exhibition featured photographs of people allegedly forcibly disappeared and their families. It formed part of a three-day campaign in Geneva, held from September 24 to 26, that also included a conference, protest and rally.
According to the BNM, the campaign aimed to draw international attention to Balochistan and present documentary and photographic evidence about enforced disappearances to international institutions.
A BNM spokesperson said the issue was not merely a matter of claims or statistics, but a reality affecting thousands of families who have waited years for loved ones to return or for information about their whereabouts.
The spokesperson pointed to years of protests by families, including the long march led by Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) and prolonged hunger strikes. The organisation said these efforts had not brought what it considered an effective international response.
The BNM said its Geneva campaign sought to bring the issue before platforms such as the United Nations using documented and photographic evidence.
The spokesperson also referred to children who joined Mama Qadeer Baloch’s long march in search of missing parents. They said many had since grown up, while some had themselves faced enforced disappearance and state pressure.
Citing Dr Mahrang Baloch, the spokesperson said she began speaking out as a child over her father’s alleged enforced disappearance and later became a prominent voice on Baloch rights. The organisation said she faced criminal cases over her activism and was sentenced to life imprisonment in June 2026 in what it called a “false case”.
The BNM also alleged that its chairman Dr Naseem Baloch’s father, Muhammad Bakhsh Sajidi, uncle Naeem Sajidi and maternal uncle Engineer Rafiq Baloch were detained by Pakistani forces during raids on homes in Hub on February 2 and remain missing. The statement said the case had been raised in an Early Day Motion in the British Parliament.
The organisation said the exhibition reflected the Baloch people’s continued political struggle despite arrests, disappearances and other pressure. It called on international institutions to take notice of the cases and evidence presented during the Geneva campaign.
