The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has issued a powerful condemnation regarding the death of Ittifaq Manzoor, a victim of enforced disappearance, who is believed to have been killed in a staged bomb blast orchestrated by Pakistani forces in Turbat. The BYC describes the incident as a calculated and inhumane act, illustrating the ongoing campaign of violence and repression against the Baloch people by the state.
According to reports from the Pakistani police in the Josak area of Turbat, Ittifaq Manzoor died on the night of January 12, 2025, while supposedly trying to plant a bomb that exploded. However, both Manzoor’s family and the BYC firmly deny this official account, characterizing it as a fabricated justification for an extrajudicial killing.
The committee asserts that Ittifaq Manzoor was forcibly disappeared by Pakistani security forces on December 10, 2024, in front of numerous witnesses. His family had actively campaigned for his release, holding press conferences and organizing protests, demanding justice not only for Ittifaq but also for his two brothers, who were also victims of enforced disappearance. While his brothers were eventually released, Ittifaq remained in illegal detention until his tragic death.
In a public statement, Ittifaq Manzoor’s family rejected the police explanation, insisting that he was in custody when the alleged bomb blast occurred. They argued that the police claims were unfounded and fabricated.
The BYC has condemned the state’s actions and called for accountability concerning the ongoing genocide of the Baloch people. The committee accuses Pakistani authorities of employing enforced disappearances, followed by staged encounters and false charges, as systematic strategies to crush dissent and instill fear within the Baloch community.
In its statement, the BYC declared, “This brutal act is yet another indicator of the state’s disregard for human life and its efforts to suppress the voices calling for justice and self-determination for Balochistan.”
The committee has also called for international intervention, urging human rights organizations, the media, and the global community to recognize the escalating human rights crisis in the region. The BYC demands an end to the ongoing policies of genocide, enforced disappearances, and state-sanctioned violence that continue to afflict Balochistan.
Vowing to pursue justice for Ittifaq Manzoor and other victims of state violence, the BYC has committed itself to continuing its activism against these injustices in the region.
