A widespread social media movement spearheaded by Baloch Social Media Activists (BSMA) has gained significant traction, propelling the hashtag #UnForBalochistan to trend on the social media platform ‘X’.
This trend has not only taken hold in Pakistan but has also resonated in various other countries. The primary aim of the campaign is to urge the United Nations to deploy a fact-finding mission to Balochistan and investigate what activists term the “Baloch genocide.”
In an official statement released by the BSMA, the need for urgent United Nations intervention in Balochistan was underscored.

The release highlighted several key points, including the imperative to halt ongoing “state-sponsored violence,” ensure justice for Baloch victims and their families, and bring global attention to the situation in order to compel the Pakistani government to address the concerns raised.
Emphasizing the crucial role played by the BSMA as a platform for Baloch activists, the press release conveyed its commitment to amplifying the often overlooked voices. Through a strategic social media approach, the BSMA aims to garner worldwide support, raise awareness about the severity of the Balochistan situation, and prompt the UN and human rights organizations to take decisive action.
For eleven consecutive days, families of missing Baloch individuals have been staging protests in Islamabad, demanding an end to enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in Balochistan. The BSMA has aligned itself with their cause, utilizing the online campaign to amplify their voices and appeal to the UN for action.
Despite these efforts, the Baloch protestors in Islamabad have received no response from the United Nations and human rights groups, leaving the issue unresolved amid ongoing tensions and reported human rights violations in Balochistan.
