Dr. Mahrang Baloch, central organizer of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), urged the Baloch people to unite against the alleged “repressive state policies” and “ongoing atrocities” in Balochistan during a recent gathering in Mach, Bolan. She emphasized that the Baloch community faces severe oppression, claiming that they cannot live freely in their homeland due to targeted violence against men, women, and children.
Dr. Baloch highlighted issues such as forced displacement and enforced disappearances, citing the recovery of mutilated bodies with signs of torture from mass graves across various regions. She accused the Pakistani state of exploiting Balochistan’s resources while establishing military outposts that serve to enslave the local population.
Her speech resonated with the attendees, including relatives of missing persons and local activists, who echoed the call for an end to enforced disappearances and urged international bodies to intervene. Dr. Baloch described a “system of oppression” designed to erase Baloch identity, warning that those who seek accountability face intimidation.
With a plea for widespread participation in the upcoming January 25 gathering in Dalbandin designated as “Baloch Genocide Memorial Day.” Dr. Baloch aims to bring attention to the plight of the Baloch people and press for international recognition of what she characterizes as a “Baloch genocide.” A significant public event is expected to take place to commemorate this day, amplifying the call for justice and recognition of alleged state-sponsored atrocities in Balochistan.
