Dr. Mahrang Baloch, the organizer of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), has voiced strong criticism against intellectuals, journalists and political figures in Punjab for their support of military operations in Balochistan. During her visit to the Gwadar Bar Room on Monday, she was received by Gwadar Bar President Naeem Sharif and other members.
In her address to a gathering of lawyers, Dr. Mahrang focused on the difficult circumstances faced by the Baloch people and emphasized the urgent need for enhanced political and legal activism. “Our people are unaware of what is happening. They have already endured immense oppression. Today, the military burns their homes and displaces them, yet no one questions it,” she stated.
She raised concerns about the legitimacy of the institutions responsible for military operations in the region. “The question is whether the body making decisions about military operations in Balochistan is even a legal entity capable of doing so,” she remarked.
Dr. Mahrang sharply criticized the silence of influential figures in Punjab, declaring, “Intellectuals, journalists and workers in Punjab have actively demanded military operations in Balochistan. This is why we are running a political movement against this oppression.”
She further accused Pakistan’s judicial system of facilitating the alleged “genocide” of the Baloch people. “The judicial system is enabling this oppression and without resistance, we can expect even more crackdowns in the future,” she warned.
Concluding her address, Dr. Mahrang called for increased unity and organization within the Baloch political movement. “For the survival of the Baloch nation, this movement must be more structured and united,” she asserted.
In related developments, it has been reported that the Turbat police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Naseema Baloch, Sebghatullah ShahJi, Kech Bar Association President Majeed Shah Advocate, Abdul Majeed Dashti Advocate, Mehrab Khan Gichki Advocate, among 15 others.
The charges are reportedly linked to their involvement in a seminar organized by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) at Shaheed Fida Chowk, commemorating the death anniversary of Balach Maulabakhsh. As of now, the Turbat police have not verified the registration of the FIR.
