Two teenage boys have reportedly been forcibly disappeared by Pakistani security forces in Gwadar, amid a rising trend of enforced disappearances across Balochistan. The incident has heightened concerns about human rights violations in the region, where many families continue to suffer from the disappearance of loved ones without any official explanation or legal process.
According to local sources, security personnel raided homes in the TTC Colony area of Gwadar on Wednesday. During the operation, they detained Feroz and Sheh Mureed, who are 16 and 15 years old respectively. Both boys are sons of Advocate Munir, a resident of the area. Witnesses described the raid as aggressive, with security forces surrounding the neighborhood, vandalizing property, and physically assaulting residents, including women.
Reports indicate that the two boys were taken into custody after being subjected to physical violence. Their family has voiced deep concerns over their safety and fears that the boys might be falsely implicated or harmed while in detention. They have demanded the boys’ immediate release and accountability for the actions of the security forces involved.
This incident marks the second reported case from the TTC Colony within a 24-hour period. On Tuesday, two other young men Shoaib, son of Rafiq, and Hafeez, son of Musa were allegedly detained from the same area. Like the boys detained this week, they remain missing, fueling ongoing fears about the pattern of enforced disappearances in the region.
Human rights groups and political organizations have consistently accused the Pakistani state of carrying out enforced disappearances across Balochistan. These organizations, along with the families of the missing, have called on the government to end arbitrary detentions and to ensure that all detainees are presented before a court of law, in accordance with Pakistan’s Constitution and international human rights standards.
