In Quetta, Balochistan, a distressing incident unfolded when senior journalist Mehboob Nadeem Mehr and his colleague, Javed Langah, the bureau chief of Sindh TV, fell victim to an assault allegedly carried out by a group of six to seven individuals on motorcycles, wielding sticks.
The attack transpired on Madressah Road in Sariab, an area under the jurisdiction of the Sariab Road Kechi Beg police station. Regrettably, Mehboob Nadeem suffered severe injuries, including a fractured arm and wounds to his chest and head, which left him in an unconscious state.
Fortunately, Javed Langah, accompanying Mehr during the incident, sustained minor injuries. Moreover, Mehr’s vehicle bore the brunt of the assault, sustaining significant damage. Following their aggressive act, the assailants reportedly discharged gunshots into the air before hastily departing the scene.
This alarming incident has ignited deep concern within Balochistan’s journalistic community. They are urgently appealing to key figures, including Chief Minister Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki, IG Police Balochistan Sheikh Abdul Khaliq, CCP Quetta Abdul Hai Amir Baloch, and others, to take immediate measures to ensure the safety of journalists in the region. Their primary demand is swift action leading to the apprehension of those responsible for the attack on Mehboob Nadeem Mehr.
