The ongoing cycle of enforced disappearances in Balochistan persists, with reports indicating that three men have gone missing after being detained by Pakistani forces. According to local sources and family members, these individuals were taken into custody during military operations, and their current whereabouts remain unknown. The continued disappearances highlight the tense security situation in the region and the lack of accountability surrounding such detentions.
In the Dasht Konchati area of Kech district, Pakistani forces reportedly carried out a late-night raid on 27 September. During this operation, two men, Altaf, son of Habtain, and Gulab, son of Ayub Baloch, were detained. Despite efforts by their families and local residents, both men have not been seen or heard from since their detention, raising concerns about their safety and the possibility of enforced disappearance.
Two days earlier, on 25 September, security forces detained Saud, son of Haji Rahim, from his residence in the Hairabad area of Kech. Like the others, Saud’s family has not received any information regarding his fate or location, and he remains missing. These incidents contribute to the pattern of forced disappearances that have affected many families across Balochistan, fueling fears and grievances among the local population.
Amid these reports of enforced disappearances, some individuals who had previously been detained have been released and returned home. Sheeraz, son of Ghulam Qadir, from Barkhan, was detained on 20 September and was released after a week. Similarly, Siraj, son of Sanjar, from Balgatar, was detained in Turbat on 26 September but was released the following day. Additionally, Asghar Karmdani, who had been in custody for three months, was also able to return home, offering some relief to his family but underscoring the ongoing cycle of detention and release.
Separately, security operations continue to be reported in various parts of Balochistan. In the Buleda area of Kech district, Pakistani forces conducted an operation on Saturday, raiding homes in the Gardank area and reportedly opening fire in residential neighborhoods. Fortunately, no casualties were reported during this operation. In Panjgur district, forces also carried out operations in Haji Isa Bazaar, Haji Hakeem Bazaar, and Kadaan, where houses were searched and the areas documented through photographs and videos. Despite these extensive security measures, no arrests or injuries have been reported in these recent operations.
