Nine months have passed since the alleged enforced disappearance of two Baloch brothers, Junaid Hameed and Yasir Hameed, from Balochistan. Their family remains in a state of deep uncertainty, living without any official information or updates regarding their whereabouts. The emotional toll has been immense, leaving the family in a constant state of fear, despair, and hopelessness as they await any news about their loved ones.
In a recent statement, their sister, Yasmeen Hameed, described the ongoing ordeal as a “relentless nightmare.” She emphasized that both of her brothers are still missing, and the family’s suffering continues without any clarity or resolution. The lack of communication from authorities has intensified their anguish, making it almost impossible to find peace or closure.
Yasmeen detailed that her younger brother, Junaid, was “forcibly abducted” on October 8, 2024, near the Bhawani Shah Pump in Hub Chowki. She alleges that the Pakistani security forces were responsible for this abduction. Just three days later, on October 11, 2024, her older brother Yasir was detained from Khil, Kalat, and has since disappeared without any trace or explanation from the authorities.
Since their disappearance, the family has received no information about the fate or legal status of Junaid and Yasir. Yasmeen described their nine months of suffering as “living through a horror story,” marked by constant restlessness, fear, and a sense of helplessness. The silence and inaction of state institutions have only deepened their despair, making the wait for justice feel unending and exhausting.
Despite their efforts to seek justice, Yasmeen explained that she has exhausted every legal avenue available to her. She has submitted multiple applications to local authorities, participated in protests, and engaged with officials who repeatedly assured her that her brothers would be located. However, these promises have not translated into any tangible results, and her brothers remain missing.
The case of Junaid and Yasir Hameed is part of a disturbing pattern of enforced disappearances in Balochistan. Human rights advocates have long raised concerns about state silence, harassment of families, and a lack of accountability. Yasmeen Hameed has called on the public for support, urging people to raise their voices and help highlight this ongoing injustice. She emphasized the urgent need for answers, justice, and the safe return of her brothers, appealing to all to stand with the families of the disappeared.
