On the occasion of Pakistan’s elections, internet services were reportedly suspended in various districts of Balochistan, causing inconvenience for residents. Complaints regarding the internet outage have been registered from the capital, Quetta, as well as Gwadar, Kharan, Hub, and other areas.
Information Minister Balochistan, Jan Achakzai, asserted that there were no government-level guidelines for the suspension of internet services in Balochistan. Despite Achakzai describing the security situation as satisfactory during the election campaign, the past nine days witnessed over 125 incidents targeting election campaigners and candidates across Balochistan.
Today, reports have emerged of explosions in several areas of Balochistan on the day of the elections, adding a concerning dimension to the electoral process in the region.
