In Balochistan’s district Khuzdar, a young man named Anees-Ur-Rehma has reportedly been forcibly disappeared by unknown armed men. The incident has sparked outrage and fear among the Baloch community, with many demanding justice and the safe return of their loved ones.
According to reports, Anees was at a hotel in Khuzdar city when the armed men raided the premises, subjected him to severe beatings, and abducted him. His brother, Fakhar Baloch, has appealed to the authorities to ensure Anees’s safe return and register an FIR against the culprits.
The incident has also sparked a massive protest in Buleda, Kech, where residents demanded the safe release of all Baloch missing persons. The protest was led by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), along with student organizations and the general public. Women and children participated, holding placards and banners displaying pictures of their loved ones.
The protesters marched through the streets, chanting slogans, and gathered in front of DC Kech’s office. They lamented the “extrajudicial” abduction of Baloch youth, arguing that it violates fundamental human rights. Despite years of protests across Balochistan, they said that their pleas have fallen on deaf ears.
The protesters demanded that if their loved ones have committed crimes, they should face court proceedings. If not, they should be released. They vowed to continue their protest until they receive a satisfactory answer.
The incident highlights the ongoing crisis of enforced disappearances in Balochistan, which has been a persistent issue for years. The province has seen a significant rise in disappearances, with many cases remaining unsolved. The protesters are demanding justice and accountability from the authorities, who have been accused of being silent spectators to their pain.
