The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) announced on Sunday that 13 Pakistani military personnel were killed and over 10 others injured in an IED attack and subsequent ambush on a convoy in Balochistan’s Mastung district. The group claimed responsibility for the attack, which targeted military vehicles in the region.
BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch stated that the fighters destroyed an armoured vehicle with an improvised explosive device in the Khadkocha area on August 22. Following this, they ambushed another armoured vehicle and accompanying vehicles, inflicting significant damage and casualties.
According to Jeeyand Baloch, the attack resulted in the deaths of 13 occupying army personnel and injuries to more than 10 others. The BLA’s Special Tactical Operations Squad participated directly in the operation, showcasing their active engagement in the ongoing conflict.
Local sources confirmed to The Balochistan Post that one armoured vehicle was destroyed in the explosion, while another was damaged. They reported that armed fighters ambushed the convoy, causing additional damage to a second military vehicle in the process.
In response to the attack, the Balochistan Home Department imposed an indefinite curfew in Khadkocha and surrounding areas starting from 7 a.m. on August 23. This move aimed to control the situation and prevent further incidents in the aftermath of the attack.
Separately, the BLA claimed that three Pakistani military personnel were killed and three injured in a different attack in Hairabad, Turbat, on the same day. Officials confirmed that an FC road-search team was targeted, with attackers throwing grenades and firing at the personnel.
Authorities stated that six armed men on three motorcycles carried out the attack, fleeing the scene after the security forces returned fire. The incident highlights the ongoing violence and clashes between Baloch insurgents and Pakistani security forces in the region.
The BLA also reported conducting eight other operations across Noshki, Kalat, Kharan, Washuk, Zehri, and Chagai districts. They pledged to release further details in their upcoming weekly statement, continuing their campaign against Pakistani military targets in Balochistan.
