The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), a “pro-independence” armed group of Balochistan, has released a comprehensive report detailing its military operations during 2024. The organization claims to have conducted 284 distinct attacks, resulting in the deaths of 316 individuals they categorize as “enemy personnel.” The primary targets of these operations reportedly include Pakistani military forces, construction companies operating in the region and various military installations.
The BLF’s annual report specifies the types of operations undertaken, which include 24 sniper attacks, 32 ambushes, 23 grenade attacks and 10 incidents involving improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Furthermore, a substantial portion of their assaults, 195 in total were directed at military camps, checkpoints and other strategic facilities.
The BLF asserts that 280 military personnel were killed and 167 injured during these encounters, with the group suggesting that the actual casualty figures may be even higher than reported. In addition to military personnel, the BLF claims that 36 of their identified “collaborators” were killed and over 14 enemy combatants were captured, including two members of the Frontier Corps. The organization also reported the capture of 34 weapons throughout these operations.
The report includes allegations of significant material damage inflicted upon military assets. The BLF claims to have destroyed eight military vehicles, with additional vehicles rendered inoperable due to heavy gunfire. They also assert that they shot down four surveillance drones and destroyed surveillance cameras across several locations.
In terms of property damage, the BLF describes the destruction of numerous vehicles, including five trucks, three bulldozers, three trailers, a tractor, two dumper trucks, and a tanker, all of which they claim to have set on fire. They further allege that five additional trailers and 14 trucks were damaged by gunfire, indicating that more than 27 vehicles belonging to the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) were rendered inoperable, along with the destruction of 19 mobile communication towers.
In closing, the BLF honored 16 of its own fighters, referring to them as “national martyrs.” The organization portrayed their sacrifices as essential for the defense of Balochistan and its ongoing struggle for freedom, describing these acts of bravery as “a golden chapter in history” that will serve as an inspiration for future generations in their fight against perceived occupying forces.
