The Baloch Students Organization–Azad (BSO-Azad) has issued a statement commemorating four fallen Baloch political workers: Ejaz Baloch, Shahnawaz Baloch, Aftab Baloch, and Basit Baloch. These individuals were reportedly killed following their alleged detention by Pakistani security forces in Awaran district in 2015. The organization highlighted their dedication to the Baloch cause and their unwavering activism.
In its statement, BSO-Azad described the four men as “committed political activists” who played vital roles in mobilizing and educating Baloch youth. They were also known for advocating political change and raising awareness about the struggles faced by the Baloch people. Despite the oppressive environment marked by repression, these activists remained active in their efforts to bring attention to their community’s issues.
The organization recalled that the incident took place on April 21, 2015, when security forces allegedly raided the village of Gwarjik in Mashkay during a wedding ceremony. According to reports, the forces set several houses on fire during the raid and forcibly took the four men into custody. Their whereabouts remained unknown for some time, fueling fears and protests among the local population.
BSO-Azad claims that the bodies of Ejaz, Shahnawaz, Aftab, and Basit were discovered a day later in the same area where they had been detained. The organization described the deaths as a tragic loss not only to their families but also to the wider political movement striving for justice and independence in Balochistan.
The statement further highlighted that these individuals had also contributed significantly to humanitarian efforts, including relief work following the devastating earthquake in Awaran in 2013. Their involvement in community service underscored their commitment to the well-being of their people amidst ongoing conflict.
BSO-Azad characterized the killings as part of a broader pattern of repression and violence faced by Baloch activists. The organization reiterated its stance on the region’s political future, emphasizing the need for justice and accountability. The tribute paid to Ejaz, Shahnawaz, Aftab, and Basit underscores their importance in the ongoing struggle for Baloch rights and sovereignty. Pakistani authorities have yet to publicly comment on the specific allegations related to this tragic incident.
