The Baloch Students Organization (BSO) has condemned the persistent and systemic practice of enforced disappearances in Balochistan, labeling it a glaring violation of human rights. In a statement issued on International Human Rights Day, the organization’s central spokesperson condemned the illegal abductions of Baloch youth and political workers, describing these acts as part of a decades-long campaign aimed at silencing dissent in the region.
The BSO highlighted the recent disappearances of leaders from the National Democratic Party (NDP) in Karachi, characterizing it as yet another chapter in the ongoing saga of abductions. “The enforced disappearances of NDP leaders reflect the state’s continuous attempts to stifle political activism,” the spokesperson remarked, urging for their immediate release.
The statement also emphasized the broader consequences of these abductions, pointing out that many political leaders have been subjected to years in secret detention centers. Families of those who have disappeared are left in anguish, without any information regarding their loved ones, while victims endure physical and psychological abuse in undisclosed locations.
Echoing similar sentiments, the spokesperson for BSO Pajjar accused state institutions of systematically targeting the brightest minds of Balochistan. “Every day, masked men abduct our talented youth, reducing them to mere shadows of their former selves through torture and isolation,” they stated. “The families left behind wait endlessly, while the state the supposed guardian of its people betrays them in the most inhumane way possible.”
On International Human Rights Day, BSO Pajjar called for a united global response, urging international human rights organizations to intervene. The group demanded immediate action to halt these abductions and ensure accountability for those responsible.
