On Thursday, the bodies of five men were discovered in various parts of Balochistan, including the tragic case of a man whose body showed signs of torture after being previously “forcibly disappeared,” according to local sources. These recent recoveries have heightened fears about the rising number of killings and enforced disappearances across the region.
In Panjgur district, a body was found in the Pullabad area of Parom tehsil. The victim was identified as Abdul Wahab, son of Muhammad Omar, a resident of Zamuran in Kech district. Local sources reported that Abdul Wahab was abducted on October 27 by alleged state-backed “death squad” members. It is believed that he was shot during the abduction, which left one of his legs paralyzed. After more than a month of disappearance, his body was discovered on Thursday, showing evidence of torture.
In a separate incident, three bodies were recovered from the Badrang area of Khaliqabad. Police officials confirmed that the bodies were taken to a nearby hospital, where identification cards found in the victims’ pockets identified them as Khuda Bakhsh from Johan, Zahoor Ahmed from Khaliqabad, and Barkat Khan from Kashan. Local sources indicated that all three men belonged to the Lehri tribe and were cousins. Authorities have launched an investigation into the killings.
Meanwhile, in Khuzdar district, the body of a young man was found near a roadside in the football ground area of Zehri tehsil. Initial reports suggested that the victim had been shot and killed. The deceased was identified as Shahzaib, son of Muhammad Aslam, a resident of Sadiqabad in Zehri. The circumstances of his death are currently under investigation.
Human rights activists and local advocacy groups have expressed concern over the increasing frequency of body recoveries from remote or roadside locations across Balochistan. They highlight that such incidents have become more common in recent months, raising alarm about the deteriorating security situation in the region.
Many of the victims are believed to be individuals who had previously been “forcibly disappeared” by Pakistani armed forces or alleged state-backed groups. These developments have fueled fears of extrajudicial killings and custodial violence, with human rights advocates calling for urgent action to address these violations and ensure justice for the victims.
