Three men from Balochistan have reportedly gone missing after being subjected to enforced disappearance by Pakistani security forces in the Kech district. The individuals identified are Dr. Dad Shah, son of Wahid Bakhsh; Aman Baloch, son of Tahir Baloch; and Neksal Aasmi. According to local sources and human rights organizations, their disappearances are part of a concerning pattern of enforced disappearances in the region.
Dr. Dad Shah was reportedly detained on Monday in the city of Turbat. Meanwhile, Neksal Aasmi was taken into custody in the Hoshab area after being summoned to deliver clothes and appear in court for his nephew, Awaiz Hussain, who has also been forcibly disappeared. Awaiz Hussain, son of Hassan, was reportedly abducted from Urz Mohammad Bazaar and transferred to a military camp earlier, raising fears about the extent of state repression in the area.
In a separate incident, Aman Baloch, from Singani Sar in Turbat, was detained by security personnel near TMC Hospital. He was transferred to an undisclosed location, adding to the mounting concerns over enforced disappearances targeting the region’s youth. The pattern suggests an alarming crackdown on young men and students, which has been escalating in recent months.
Notably, Aman Baloch’s elder brother, Adnan Tahir, who is affiliated with the police department, was also abducted by Pakistani forces some time ago. He remained missing for nearly two months before being released, highlighting the unpredictable and often arbitrary nature of these enforced disappearances. The recurrence of such incidents underscores the ongoing human rights violations in Balochistan.
Human rights organization Paank has condemned the recent wave of enforced disappearances, warning that it is reaching an “alarming level.” The group emphasized that these actions, particularly targeting young students and youth, severely hinder the right to education and peace in the region. The escalating repression presents a serious obstacle to efforts for stability and human rights in Balochistan.
