The sit-in protest against the militarisation and illegal closure of educational institutions in Balochistan has entered its 20th day at Bolan Medical College (BMC).
On Sunday, Dr. Mahrang Baloch, the leader of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) and a former medical student at BMC, along with Beebagar Baloch, a member of the BYC central committee, joined the protest to show their solidarity with the students.
The protesting students have asserted that Bolan Medical College has been unlawfully closed for over a month. They also reported that hostels at the University of Balochistan have been sealed, leading to the eviction of students along with their belongings. The students believe that these actions are part of a deliberate strategy to impose state militarisation policies in educational institutions, potentially resulting in increased profiling and enforced disappearances of Baloch students in the future.
Additionally, the students emphasised that their demands have been completely disregarded by both the college administration and the Balochistan government. They further alleged ongoing profiling of students through various means.
Protesters have pledged to continue their sit-in until the reopening of Bolan Medical College and the sealed hostels. They are urging all segments of society to support their cause and amplify their voices across all platforms.
