The United Baloch Army (UBA) claimed responsibility for two recent attacks in the regions of Kachhi and Dhadar in Balochistan. The group stated that its fighters targeted and killed an individual they identified as a state informant, as well as a police officer. These incidents are part of the group’s ongoing campaign against what they perceive as Pakistani state exploitation and oppression in Balochistan.
In a statement issued to the media, UBA spokesperson Mazar Baloch provided details about the first attack. He explained that fighters targeted a man named Gull Muhammad Jattak, also known as Gulo, in the Sanni area of Kachhi on February 5. According to the statement, Jattak was shot dead at the scene, and weapons were recovered from him, indicating a deliberate and targeted operation.
The UBA accused Jattak of being an informant working for Pakistani intelligence agencies for several years. The group claimed that despite previous warnings, he continued to provide intelligence on the movements of Baloch fighters. They also alleged that he was involved in the enforced disappearances of civilians and Baloch youths in the region, which they see as part of a broader campaign of repression by the Pakistani state.
The second incident was reported to have occurred during a patrol near Kamri Bridge in Dhadar, between the night of February 4 and 5. The UBA spokesperson described that during this encounter, police personnel came into contact with their fighters. According to the statement, the police opened fire first, prompting a return of fire from UBA fighters.
The exchange of gunfire resulted in the death of one police officer, as claimed by the group. Following the confrontation, UBA fighters reportedly set the police vehicle on fire, destroying it completely. This attack was presented by the group as a part of their ongoing resistance against the Pakistani authorities.
The UBA reiterated that such attacks would continue until Balochistan achieves independence. The statement emphasized their resolve to continue fighting against what they describe as occupation and repression by the Pakistani state, with the ultimate goal of establishing an independent Baloch homeland.
