Dr. Mahrang Baloch, the leader of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee, issued a powerful statement denouncing the ongoing violence and human rights abuses in Balochistan. She described the region as a land plagued by brutality, where daily incidents of enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and mass graves have become commonplace.
Dr. Mahrang emphasized that the systematic oppression has left countless families devastated and fearful, with mothers losing their children to brutal treatment in secret detention centers or finding their bodies discarded in desolate areas. The frequency of attacks by Pakistani forces and their affiliated death squads has led to homes being raided, women and children being assaulted, and men being abducted without justification.
Dr. Mahrang accused the Pakistani state of orchestrating a campaign to instill fear and assert control over the Baloch people by exploiting their resources and systematically marginalizing them. She claimed that the state’s ultimate goal is to commit genocide against the Baloch people, erasing their identity and existence from the world.
However, Dr. Mahrang also highlighted the Baloch people’s proud history of resistance against oppressive forces, emphasizing their duty to uphold that legacy. She called upon the Baloch community to unite and resist these atrocities, urging them to show solidarity against the ongoing violence.
Dr. Mahrang announced a national gathering on January 25, 2025, in Dalbandin to protest the ongoing atrocities and demonstrate to the world that the Baloch people are neither voiceless nor abandoned. She concluded by stating that the Baloch people will not tolerate this genocide in silence, and that the unclaimed graves and bodies are symbols of their resistance and sacrifices.
In essence, Dr. Mahrang’s statement serves as a powerful call to action for the Baloch people to unite and resist the oppression they face, while also emphasizing their right to exist and be recognized as a distinct people with a rich history and culture.
